Her lifestyle, however, indicates that she was spiritually dead. Perhaps thats why she brought up which mountain to go to. The first type is individual transformation. This is hard to do, but if we are going to tell them that God loves them, it might be a good idea to let God demonstrate that love through us from the start. Encounters arent Seasonal or Geological. Racial and religious obstacles, moral and social obstaclesthese were the barriers that stood in the way. God gives him the Spirit immeasurably and always has. This story is often called The Woman at the Well. But it could also be called The Man at the Well. Because thats who this story really is about: this man, Jesus, who meets the woman at the well. Verse 11: The woman said to him, Sir, you have nothing to draw water with, and the well is deep. She believed him and he quenched her thirst for a secure relationship with a Person, a heavenly Father who would love her unconditionally forever. While he wasthere he heard an audible voice, which said: You have come to the wrong place. He realized this is indeed the Lord Jesus speaking to him. So just like Jesus ate with tax collectors and sinners in Luke 15, he is willing to share a drinking cup with a Samaritan adulteress. It is presented in the form of a dialogue between Jesus and a woman of Samaria. Nevertheless, take heart. John's Gospel: A Discipleship Journey with Jesus Jesus meets a Samaritan woman at the well of Sychar. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life. Jesus here is talking about spiritual thirst and spiritual refreshment and life. He spoke to an adulteress. Therefore, he was not merely responding.
